Civilization is a series of turn-based strategy, 4X video games, many of them produced by Sid Meier. As of 12 March 2008, the Civilization franchise has sold more than 8 million copies, according to Take-Two Interactive. There are also several Civilization non-video games. All titles in the series share similar gameplay, centered on building a civilization on a macro-scale from prehistory up to the near future. Each turn allows the player to move his or her units on the map, build or improve new cities and units, and initiate negotiations with the computer-controlled players. In between turns, computer players can do the same. The player will also choose technologies to research. These reflect the cultural, intellectual, and technical sophistication of the civilization, and usually allow the player to build new units or to improve their cities with new structures. In most games in the series, one may win by military conquest, achieving a certain level of culture, building an interstellar space ship, or achieving the highest score, among other means. Over the years part of the crew involved in the developing the series became also successful in producing their own strategy games, such as Bruce Shelley of Age of Empires fame, Brian Reynolds who went to create Rise of Nations also received positive accolades and more recently Soren Johnson with Spore. Also, Christopher Tin who composed the introduction theme of Civilization IV, Baba Yetu, a choral Swahili version of the Lord's Prayer won a Grammy for the song and for an equally noteworthy album Calling All Dawns in 2011.

How To Play Civilization Rom On PC

There are two components for playing a psx Civilization rom on your PC. The first component is the emulation program which can imitate the psx OS and software.

The second component is the Civilization rom itself to play on the emulator.

Step 1: you can start by downloading a reliable and bug free emulator. We’d suggest Retroarch – it’s open source, fast and one of the most frequently updated.

Once you have finished downloading Retroarch, extract the downloaded .zip file to a location, for example your Desktop. After, double click the RetroArch-1.7.5-x86-setup.exe file in order to start the emulator.

Your emulator will now be ready to play Civilization rom. But now you’ll need to find the correct ROMs online. A ROM is essentially a virtual version of the game that needs to be loaded into the emulator.

Step 2: return to Retroarch and hit File > Open. Navigate to the downloaded .exe file and double click it to open it. The game will now run on the emulator and you can play the game freely.

Tip: Saving games on an emulator functions a little differently. The integrated save system will not save your progress.
Instead, you’ll need to click File > Save State and then choose an empty slot. You can save your progress in whatever point you like within the game, not only on the official checkpoints offered by the game.

When playing in the future and you want to continue from your saved state, you can use File > Load State to load up the game from exactly where you last saved it.
