Ape Escape Racing is a racing game featuring the monkeys from the Ape Escape series. In Ape Escape Racing you will 'build' your monkey into a racing machine, by giving him an engine and tires. The game will feature 47 'vehicles', each in two forms: one specialized in drifting, one specialized in acceleration. Other moulds for vehicles are unlocked as you go through the ranks The main game consists of playing four tracks in a grand prix. The better you do each time will fill a monkey bar at the top of the grand prix menu. Once this bar is filled a VS mode is unlocked where you have to play the tracks again but an evil, much faster monkey is involved in the races. If you become overall #1 then you will 'rank up' and unlock another 4 tracks and so on. You can replay the levels you have unlocked in a normal race form or in a time trial form. Each of the tracks are set in the same arena but the path changes to a harder one as you unlock more. The tracks are set in this order. The Beach, The City, The Graveyard and The Jungle. These are not the original names but the author's interpretation. The game uses the PlayStation Portable's wireless capabilities by using Gamesharing and ad hoc for wireless LAN multiplayer races. |
There are two components for playing a psp Ape Escape Racer rom on your PC. The first component is the emulation program which can imitate the psp OS and software.
The second component is the Ape Escape Racer rom itself to play on the emulator.
Step 1: you can start by downloading a reliable and bug free emulator. We’d suggest PPSSPP – it’s open source, fast and one of the most frequently updated.
Once you have finished downloading PPSSPP, extract the downloaded .zip file to a location, for example your Desktop. After, double click the PPSSPPWindows.exe file in order to start the emulator.
Your emulator will now be ready to play Ape Escape Racer rom. But now you’ll need to find the correct ROMs online. A ROM is essentially a virtual version of the game that needs to be loaded into the emulator.
Step 2: return to PPSSPP and hit File > Open. Navigate to the downloaded .exe file and double click it to open it. The game will now run on the emulator and you can play the game freely.
Tip: Saving games on an emulator functions a little differently. The integrated save system will not save your progress.
Instead, you’ll need to click File > Save State and then choose an empty slot. You can save your progress in whatever point you like within the game, not only on the official checkpoints offered by the game.
When playing in the future and you want to continue from your saved state, you can use File > Load State to load up the game from exactly where you last saved it.
