Description

Olympic Summer Games was the 16-bit edition of the official video game of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. It is the third game of a loose "trilogy" also consisting of Olympic Gold and Winter Olympics. Overall, it was the last "Olympic" video game released for the fourth generation of consoles, as well as the Game Boy. It follows the already common button mashing techniques of previous games, with the usual exceptions. It has 10 events, but only two aren't based on track and field events, and unlike Winter Olympics, there are no major differences between each event on different platforms. Graphics are considered to be either worse or only slightly better overall than those of Olympic Gold. While each nation has its own colour set, it was the only redeeming feature. The isometric view on most events meant that most times only grass was visible, and although some backgrounds were animated, on some a few sprites were out of proportion with others; the athlete in the pole vault looks too short when compared to the background objects while in the high jump the opposite occurs.

How To Play Olympic Summer Games On PC

There are two components for playing a psx Olympic Summer Games game on your PC. The first component is the emulation program which can imitate the psx OS and software.

The second component is the Olympic Summer Games game itself to play on the emulator.

Step 1: you can start by downloading a reliable and bug free emulator. We’d suggest Retroarch – it’s open source, fast and one of the most frequently updated.

Once you have finished downloading Retroarch, extract the downloaded .zip file to a location, for example your Desktop. After, double click the RetroArch-1.7.5-x86-setup.exe file in order to start the emulator.

Your emulator will now be ready to play Olympic Summer Games. But now you’ll need to find the correct ROMs online. A ROM is essentially a virtual version of the game that needs to be loaded into the emulator.

Step 2: return to Retroarch and hit File > Open. Navigate to the downloaded .exe file and double click it to open it. The game will now run on the emulator and you can play the game freely.

Tip: Saving games on an emulator functions a little differently. The integrated save system will not save your progress.
Instead, you’ll need to click File > Save State and then choose an empty slot. You can save your progress in whatever point you like within the game, not only on the official checkpoints offered by the game.

When playing in the future and you want to continue from your saved state, you can use File > Load State to load up the game from exactly where you last saved it.
