Description

Chess is a chess game for OS X, and its progenitor, OPENSTEP, featuring a high-quality graphical display and support for chess variants such as crazyhouse and suicide chess. Also included are different skins featuring metal, grass, marble and wood. It is bundled with the OS X operating system and is also distributed as free and open source software on the Apple website. The Apple Chess front end is a Cocoa application whose drawing code is based on GNOME Chess. It communicates with the Sjeng chess engine which runs in a separate process. In OPENSTEP and OS X up to version 10.2, Apple Chess used bitmap graphics with a fixed, pseudo-3D, perspective, and used an early version of GNU Chess as the back end engine. Chess can be also played using voice commands which uses Mac OS X's built-in speech recognition capabilities. Games can be logged using the log feature, which can include information such as names, dates, places, types of game and moves made. In OS X Mountain Lion, Chess supports Game Center.

How To Play Chess On PC

There are two components for playing a psx Chess game on your PC. The first component is the emulation program which can imitate the psx OS and software.

The second component is the Chess game itself to play on the emulator.

Step 1: you can start by downloading a reliable and bug free emulator. We’d suggest Retroarch – it’s open source, fast and one of the most frequently updated.

Once you have finished downloading Retroarch, extract the downloaded .zip file to a location, for example your Desktop. After, double click the RetroArch-1.7.5-x86-setup.exe file in order to start the emulator.

Your emulator will now be ready to play Chess. But now you’ll need to find the correct ROMs online. A ROM is essentially a virtual version of the game that needs to be loaded into the emulator.

Step 2: return to Retroarch and hit File > Open. Navigate to the downloaded .exe file and double click it to open it. The game will now run on the emulator and you can play the game freely.

Tip: Saving games on an emulator functions a little differently. The integrated save system will not save your progress.
Instead, you’ll need to click File > Save State and then choose an empty slot. You can save your progress in whatever point you like within the game, not only on the official checkpoints offered by the game.

When playing in the future and you want to continue from your saved state, you can use File > Load State to load up the game from exactly where you last saved it.
