It's a bit of a sad day in the world of Nintendo, with the company officially shutting down online play functionality for both the 3DS and Wii U systems.
Fans have today united by jumping on the servers while they were still active and seeing out the final hours. Across social media, there have been a lot of people having some final sessions in Splatoon, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart and various other games.
Below are many of the fans saying goodbye to Nintendo's 3DS and Wii U online service (via social media and other parts of the internet):
